General Assembly

The 2026 General Assembly will be a virtual event. Delegates will receive login credentials to view and participate. Non-delegates can only observe the broadcast. At 8 a.m. there will be a presentation that explains how the assembly plays a key role in WSSDA’s year-round advocacy efforts and what happens with the results of the assembly voting. At 9 a.m. official business will begin and continue until all business is complete. Saturday, September 19, 2026.

WA.gov Account Required for Logging in to WSSDA Website

Starting September 30, everyone who logs in to the WSSDA website will need a WA.gov account. This is due to new requirements from the state’s overseer of IT services, Washington Technology Solutions (WaTech). WaTech is gradually migrating all state services to the new login system as they phase out Secure Access Washington (SAW). See how to set up your account and learn more. About WSSDA’s annual conference is the largest gathering of education policymakers in the state. The conference creates a special opportunity for school directors, student board representatives, and superintendents to spend a few days learning from peers, educational experts, and for strengthening connections within their own board-superintendent team. The location of WSSDA’s conference alternates between eastern and western Washington annually. Advancing Inclusion Through Belonging

This training will be offered at the 2026 WSSDACON in Spokane and available to conference registrants. , Belonging is an essential condition of an inclusive environment. Here, participants will explore the relationships between belonging, engagement, dignity, and student growth/success more deeply. Tackling Financial Soundness

This training will be offered at the 2026 WSSDACON in Spokane and available to conference registrants. , Learn about the key budget drivers for districts and the Financial Health Indicators developed by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). Examine the concepts underlying each indicator, identify how district profile scores are determined, and learn to navigate OSPI's website to access your district’s profile. All this information will help you provide board-appropriate guidance for financial soundness when developing and monitoring the district budget. Thursday, November 19, 2026, 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM. Deciphering District Budgets

This training will be offered at the 2026 WSSDACON in Spokane and available to conference registrants. , Get to know the structure and basic terminology used in the district budget. Become familiar with the five funds used in district accounting and learn about the system used to code district revenue and expenditures. Making sense of “Section A” of a district budget and unlocking the basics of the budget coding system will allow you to decipher many types of information. The knowledge you gain will help you ask key questions when the board is involved in developing and monitoring the district budget. Friday, November 20, 2026, 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM. Foundations of Cultural Proficiency

This training will be offered at the 2026 WSSDACON in Spokane and available to conference registrants. , Culture is to people what water is to fish. We tend not to think about culture because it surrounds us all the time. In this learning experience, participants will explore culture within the context of a school district and its impact on students, staff, and families. By considering the opportunities and benefits of cultivating cultural proficiency throughout a school district, school directors will be equipped to promote cultural proficiency within the unique context of their own districts.
