Reception for "Cuba: Historias de un Sueño"

Over sixty years ago, Fidel Castro led the Cuban Revolution selling dreams of social equality, improved education, healthcare for all, and a prosperous future for the Cuban people. Yet, decades later, Cuba continues to grapple with the economic challenges that have shaped its history. For over 40 years, a combination of external sanctions, internal policies, corruption, and a stagnant economy have pushed many Cubans to seek opportunities abroad. While the stories of Cuban exiles and immigrants in the U.S. are frequently shared, we rarely hear the stories of those who remain on the island. Through over 50 interviews with Havana locals from different backgrounds, students from the Tisch Initiative for Global Leadership have created a collection of stories and photos that explore the everyday lives and challenges in Cuba’s capital. Cuba: Historias de un Sueño (Cuba: Tales of a Dream) serves as a living collection of stories and photos to depict the current state of the Cuban Dream. Unlocking Insights: The Power of Natural Language Processing in Healthcare

Join Tufts CTSI on Thursday, October 24 at 10 a.m. for an engaging live Zoom event featuring Alysse Wurcel, MD, a dedicated clinical scientist and thought leader whose work in translational science showcases the power of Natural Language Processing (NLP) to unlock information hidden in clinical data. Wurcel’s NLP research identifies a difficult-to-uncover population—people who use drugs—and demonstrates the limitations of traditional electronic medical record searches. Her work reveals how NLP can serve as a more effective, efficient, and ethical alternative to chart reviews. By incorporating NLP in her research, Wurcel not only identifies patients more accurately but creates the opportunity to improve care through earlier identification of at-risk populations in need of better access to care and services.
