Faculty panel: Active and engaged teaching Feb. 19 | 2:30–3:30 p.m. | Zoom Over the course of the academic year, Teaching@UW is hosting five events that each focus on one of the “core elements of effective teaching” recently adopted into the UW Faculty Code. In these sessions, faculty panelists share practical examples of how they implement these elements into their courses. February’s session will focus on “active and engaged” teaching and features Pamela Krayenbuhl (Associate Professor, Tacoma) and José M. Guzmán (Associate Teaching Professor, Seattle). In addition to sharing what active and engaged teaching looks like in their courses, the panelists will discuss how to demonstrate the element in a teaching evaluation or promotion process. Enhancing collegiality in the classroom

In an era of social disconnection, how can instructors help students come together — not just as learners, but as colleagues? What does true collegiality look like? In this session, Anu Taranath, Teaching Professor in English and Comparative History of Ideas at UW Seattle, will share how instructors can invite students into a more relational way of being. Participants will leave this session with strategies for strengthening classroom culture in the short term and providing students with long-term tools for collaboration beyond the classroom. Go Global 2026

Mark your calendars for the Center for Global Health Nursing's annual Go Global event! This in-person celebration will include a light lunch.
