CORE: Preparing for Audit (CORE 1042 Class)
This course is designed to discuss transactions that are typically identified for review in an audit and how to prepare for an audit. The course will include information on high risk purchases, principles of allocation of costs, end-of-award purchases, and re-budgeting. Also included in the course will be information provided in the Uniform Guidance and various agency deviations.

Docker Containers Workshop

Please join us at the UWIT Research Computing and the eScience Institute December 2 from 1 to 3PM at eScience to learn the basics of containerization for research computing using Docker. We will build a coherent picture covering Docker Files, Images, and Containers; in concert with container registries and job execution, specifically container allocation, monitoring and orchestration. Central to this program is understanding how we connect a hermetic Container to external controls and data.

CORE: Understanding Your New Award (CORE 1030 Class)
This course picks up where Blueprint of a Proposal leaves off. We overview what happens after the proposal has been submitted and what kinds of communication you might expect at the pre-award phase of a sponsored project. We then take a look at processes that occur when the UW receives an award from a sponsor.
Specific topics include: Sponsor review , Types of awards , Pre-award sponsor correspondence (e.g. just in time) , The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) review, negotiations, and role in the UW setup process , P.I./Campus review and Award Setup Request Roles , Advance Awards, The focus is on action items for Research Administrators and Principal Investigators, along with opportunities for planning at the setup of a new award to establish a strong foundation for successful management of that award.
